Modern Whaling

A Global Moratorium on commercial whaling has existed since 1986.

However, fishermen from the country of Japan poach the waters of the Southern Oceans for Minke, Humpback and Fin Whales, all in the name of Research. The meat is packaged and sold commercially throughout Asia.

In Europe, Pilot Whales are brutally slaughtered under the guise of Tradition. The majority of the meat is sold commercially to countries outside of Europe.

Whale meat contains high levels of Mercury and is unfit for human consumption, yet companies continue to poach whale meat due to it's low overhead and lack of regulation.

What these companies are doing is Wrong.
